Danny Kou started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2010 and found that training and competition was difficult for him, but never gave up. Through hard work and determination, he developed as a practitioner, instructor, and leader. Half a decade later, he decided to pursue his dream of creating a strong Jiu Jitsu community and began to train, compete, and teach martial arts full time.
Since then, Danny has competed at the highest levels. Amongst his many IBJJF gold medals, Danny is a 3-time IBJJF Pan-Ams champion and 5-time Houston Open Gold medalist. In 2019, after suffering a severe shoulder dislocation during training, Danny took a hiatus from competing and focused on redesigning and redefining his approach to Jiu Jitsu as well as his approach to teaching.
As part of his pursuit for injury prevention for himself and his students, Danny began studying Yoga Better Training with Andrew Dugas. From this new-found knowledge, Danny began redesigning the way he taught and visualized anatomical function with a huge emphasis on injury prevention and safety.
