Tom Lam began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) journey over a decade ago. He has had the privilege to train at many gyms and experience many different teaching styles.
During competition and training, he received an injury that put him on the sidelines. During his injury rehabilitation, he had time to reflect on his training style and what he wanted to accomplish when he returned to BJJ. Using his reflections, exposure from the many academies he has trained at, and over a decade of education experience - when he returned to the sport he vowed to train more intelligently and to leverage his experience to improve the BJJ curriculum.
His mission is to help all of his students excel, have a deep understanding of Jiu Jitsu and their body, and to train in a way that minimizes injury. His motto and approach to BJJ now is to: "upgrade the software, without damaging the hardware."
Tom's life mission is to provide high quality instruction with a huge emphasis on using the right techniques, avoiding injury, training to learn, and to teach Jiu Jitsu in a way that is safe and relevant to all learners.
